The hope, the excitement, the expectation, followed by the sheer despair and crushing disappointment....
but oh the PRIDE!
England may not of won the European Cup final, but they most certainly DID NOT FAIL!.
How many emotions did we as a Nation go through last Sunday night ....and what can we take from this (for most) once in a lifetime event? No, we didn't win the Euro Championship but lets look at what WAS achieved?
It bought conversation to tables and put people in touch, it gathered family and friends together, it lifted hearts and new role models were born and it unified a Nation that has become so disengaged during a devastating pandemic.
For the England Football Team - from physios, to trainers, to manager, to players it was a victory of sorts - from the very start of the tournament, in the way they played both as individuals and as a team setting a superb example of appliance and commitment , the way they conducted themselves , and the goals they scored on their way to the final. Their comfort and support of each other in the wake of that penalty shoot out - they
so didn't fail, they won us over!
The emotional fallout however for the players will need just as careful managing as the training in the days, weeks and years to come. Mental health needs as much attention as physical health. I as a TFT Practitioner have seen first hand how the aftermath of shattered hopes and dreams, the trauma and pressure of feeling responsible for something though not your fault can lodge and fester. This may result in life affecting, emotional
blockages that can have a hugely detrimental affect on the way you live. I truly hope the England Team will get the psychological care and support they will now need to move forward with pride in all they have and will continue to achieve! WELL DONE BOYS!
