Hi
Hot, Hot, Hot ....so Hydrate, Hydrate Hydrate!
Well the first heatwave in many years remains with us, and its never been more important to keep your hydration in the
best place possible throughout the day - all day - everyday!.....
When the body is hydrated it works at its best but when not adequately hydrated every part of it is compromised.
Here are some useful tips to help you stay hydrated and feel tip top whether you are at work, rest or .....classes!
Alarmingly, in the UK, 60% of people drink just one glass of water or less a day – and we need more. Being properly hydrated
is essential to life, and if you’re trying to be that little bit sharper, then proper hydration could be your best friend. So do it now, get up, go to the tap, pour yourself a glass and get drinking
Always have water with you! Whether it’s a glass at your desk, a jug on the kitchen table, a bottle when you’re out and about – if you’ve always got water to hand you’re more likely to pick it up and drink it......SIMPLES!
Keep a litre
bottle on your desk so you have something to measure your intake against, or buy a bundle of smaller bottles if a litre is too daunting.
Flavour water naturally with fruit if you’re not keen on plain water.
Eat hydrating foods such as watermelon or make your own fresh fruit ice lollies with a little crushed fruit diluted with water.
Thirst is often mistaken for hunger, so every time you feel peckish, drink
a glass of water before you eat to make sure you aren’t confusing hunger with dehydration. This is a good way to cut out unnecessary calories!
Why not set yourself a timer n your phone as a reminder to drink a glass of water every hour? To really enjoy all the wonderful flavours of your food, water is the best ally to have at mealtimes, because it’s neutral
When you’re out
having drinks with friends, it’s important to stay well hydrated. Alcohol is a diuretic, which means it makes us go to the loo more, and so could result in us becoming dehydrated. Stay on top of things by balancing each glass of alcohol you drink with a glass of water.
Staying hydrated during exercise and sporting activity is super-important. The amount of fluid we need depends on the humidity and temperature of the environment, the level we’re sweating, and the
intensity and duration of the activity.
Please bring plenty of water to classes and I always carry extra supplies as you know
HAPPY HYDRATING!

PLACEBO DIET RECIPE OF THE WEEK
|
Three Bean Veggie
Chilli
When trying to eat less red meat, you will hardly miss it with this flavourful chilli. 2 red peppers 3 Tbsp. extra virgin olive oil 1 large chopped onion 2 tsp ground cumin 1 tsp dried oregano 1 tsp red chilli flakes 1 tsp paprika ¼ tsp salt 4 cloves
garlic, thinly sliced ½ pint vegetable stock made up with Marigold brand or the best variety you can ½ large butternut squash peeled and cubed into ½ inch pieces 2 cans chopped tomatoes. 1 can pinto beans, rinsed and drained 1 can cannellini beans, rinsed and drained 1 can red kidney beams, rinsed and drained
Firstly you need to skin the peppers. Place
on a baking sheet under a high grill, turning over as they blacken and the skins shrivels. Once done all over, place in a a large bowl and place cling film tightly over the top. Leave to steam for 15 minutes. Once cooler, one by one take the peppers and remove the charred skin and the seeds from the insides, chop the remaining grilled flesh ready for your chilli. If this all seems like too much hard work, use a jar of those ready peeled roasted peppers – very convenient and a cheat worth
making!! Sauté the onions in a pan with the olive oil gently for 15 mins until soft and translucent. Add the cumin and next four ingredients and garlic and cook for a further few minutes. Add the peppers, stock, squash and tomatoes and cook for a further 20 minutes stirring occasionally. Add the beans and cook for a further 20 minutes until slightly thickened. Test for seasoning and serve with brown rice or a hearty salad. Take the leftovers to work for lunch the next
day.
Enjoy! |
