Hello,
I hope your week is going well, and that you are well along with it of course...
This month is Skin Cancer Awareness Month, so this week I want to highlight it after a personal scare earlier this year. I had a tiny spot on my face that had been there for months. I was prompted to get it checked after seeing a local buisness offering a mole and
blemish checking service. I was seen by lovely Steph at Escape Skin & Beauty in WGC who offers this service as a way of 'giving' something back after her mother was diagnosed with skin cancer. Within 48 hours of my appointment (You can read about how this is done in this weeks Health Matters) I was urged to go and see my GP , I was subsequently referred and a pre cancerous condition was diagnosed. Following treatment ( topical application for 4 weeks) and I am sorted. - which is of course a
huge relief. It really is a case of getting checked sooner rather than later - please do,
This Sunday I will be on stage at the Cancer Reserch UK Race for Life Event at Stanborough Lakes - it's not to late to enter for s 3, 5 or 10km Walk, Run or Pretty Muddy. I hope to see you there.
Just one more Tuesday at the Whitehill Centrein Welwyn for the Tuesday
Aerobics gang, then we move into the Ridgeway Academy Sports Centre from May 26th.
Gotta love a salad .... so try the Superfood one in this weeks Food Matters.
Have a beautiful week! I'll see you online and in classes
Love Always,

HEALTH MATTERS >>>>>
May is Skin Cancer Awareness Month, it's essential to discuss a topic that deserves our attention: getting those moles and blemishes checked.
You might wonder, "Is this something I should be concerned about?" The answer is a definite yes. We all enjoy the sun's warmth on our skin, but it's vital to remember that our skin is our body's largest organ and requires our care and attention.
Check-ups are crucial. Skin cancer is among the
most common types of cancer, but the encouraging news is that it's also highly preventable. By regularly examining your skin and consulting with a dermatologist, you can identify any suspicious spots early. Early detection is pivotal and can significantly impact treatment and outcomes.
Life can get hectic, and scheduling a doctor's appointment might not be your top priority. However, consider this: investing a little time now could
save you considerable time—and concern—later. Plus, it provides peace of mind, which is invaluable.
I am so glad I went to see Steph at Escape when I did, and was urged to see my GP , who sunsequently referred me to a skin Consultant. A pre cancerous diagnosis and subsequent treatment means it has been dealt with effectively. Please see her details below.
We all have those small marks
we might ignore. Perhaps it's a mole you've always had or a new freckle that seems innocuous. However, changes in size, shape, or colour can be warning signs. If you notice anything unusual, it's wise to err on the side of caution and have it checked.
Let's make a commitment this month to ourselves to prioritise our health and encourage others to do the same. Urge your friends and family to get their skin examined. It's a simple act that shows you care about their well-being.
Remember, you're not alone in this. So, take the initiative, schedule that appointment,
and help spread awareness.
Stay safe, stay informed, and let's make this Skin Cancer Awareness Month meaningful.
A message from Steph at Escape ....
May is Skin Cancer Awareness Month, we wanted to take a moment to gently remind you of something really important.
You may already know that we offer a mole and blemish checking service here in the salon, but this isn’t
about that.
It’s about those of you who may have noticed something and thought...
“I’ll get it checked soon..."
…and then life gets in the way.
From our own experience with Steph’s mum, as well as with many of our clients, we know how easy it is to delay and how important it is not to.
We also understand it can feel a little daunting, so we wanted to remind you just how simple the process is.
1. We capture a high-quality image of your mole or blemish using our dermatoscope, right here in the comfort of the salon.
2. This is then sent securely to top UK consultant dermatologists, who assess it and provide a comprehensivereport within 48 hours.
3. The report will either give you reassurance, or clear guidance on what to do next. It’s quick, it’s easy, and it could give you real peace of mind.
We’ve already seen the difference this has made for so many of you, whether that’s reassurance or catching something early and getting it sorted.
So if you’ve been putting it off, or know someone who has, please take this as your sign. Please don’t leave it any longer. I am so glad I went to see her.
