Hello There,
The last Newsletter before Christmas...which seems to have arrived as quickly as ever, and as always we are at a loss as to know where the time has suddenly gone!
The last classes of the year are this coming Saturday at Monks Walk with a Christmas theme for both the HiiT and Walkfit classes so please wear a
festive adornment as is tradition! On Sunday we gather for the annual Christmas Walk hosted by the Lindsey Fitness Running Club, all Lindsey Fitness members , family , friends and well behved dogs are welcome too - details later in this newsletter. And again wear something festive!
I'm really delighted to have been approached by people regarding the New Year initiative...those signed up have made the biggest and hardest step
by admitting to me (and themselves) that they need and indeed want help in addressing weight gain.. It is a sign that they are truly ready and want to be helped to make significant changes. Having signed up they have in fact already subconsciously started the process of change ,..... I can't wait to guide them forward in January.

FOOD MATTERS>>>>>
Here's a festive mulled wine that's not only delicious but also packed with some surprising nutritional benefits. It's a perfect drink to warm up your Christmas gatherings, and you'll love sharing it with friends and family.
INGREDIENTS:
1 bottle of red wine (a
medium-bodied wine works well)
1 orange (sliced)
2 cinnamon sticks
4 cloves
2 star anise
3 tablespoons honey or maple syrup
1/4 cup brandy (optional, but it adds a nice kick)
A pinch of
nutmeg
1 vanilla pod (split)
INSTRUCTIONS:
Pour the Wine: Grab a pot, pour in the red wine, and set it on low heat. You want to gently warm it up, not boil it.
Add the Flavours: Toss in the orange slices, cinnamon sticks, cloves, star anise, and
nutmeg. These spices not only add flavour but also bring some health benefits. Cinnamon and cloves, for instance, are known for their antioxidant properties, which help fight inflammation.
Sweeten It Up: Stir in the honey or maple syrup. Both are natural sweeteners and can be a better choice than refined sugars. Honey, in particular, has antibacterial properties and is rich in antioxidants.
Enhance with Brandy: If you’re feeling a bit adventurous, add the brandy. It’s optional, but it does deepen the flavours and adds a festive touch.
Infuse with Vanilla: Add the vanilla pod. It adds a lovely aroma and a hint of sweetness. Plus, vanilla is known to have calming properties.
Simmer and Serve: Let everything simmer
together for about 15-20 minutes. You’ll know it’s ready when your kitchen starts smelling like Christmas. Once it’s done, strain the spices and serve warm.
And there you have it! A delightful mulled wine that’s not just a treat for your taste buds but also offers some healthy perks. So, gather your loved ones, pour a glass, and enjoy the warmth and joy of the season together. Cheers to good health
