Lindsey Fitness News - November 20th 2025 - We're Up and Fasting!
Published: Thu, 11/20/25
Hello There.
Isn't it amazing how quickly November seems to settle in? The mornings are cooler, the evenings draw in, and with each change of season, I find myself reflecting on the small shifts that make the biggest difference to our health and fitness journeys. This week, I want to share something close to my heart— the role of the Placebo Diet in enhancing not just what we eat, but
how we move, think, and feel every day. I was excited to be starting the November Reset on Monday with those of you also signed up, The posts from the participants at the start of the week were wonderful statements not just of intent, but also a declaration of the good and healthy habits they have embedded as a 'norm' from their placebo diet knowledge and previous resets with me. It was so fabulous to read how much they embrace many good healthy habits to always be their best version....
then a regular Reset to deep clean and embed some new ones..Its thrilling to see how much they have changed and continue to change for the better through this mind, body soul programme.
This week then I am writing about the health benefits of intermittent fasting, whether this is now a 'norm' for you or something you do periodically for yourself of with me as part of my regular reset programme initiatives.
Have a think this week about the healthy
habits you do have, everyday . or as part of your week? What do you do for yourself as a 'norm' nutritionally, physically and emotionally to be your best, healthiest and fittest version? I am always available for a chat about how I can help if you need. Sometimes its the smallest changes that can make the biggest impact. I'm always here to help.
Have a great week

**Why Intermittent Fasting is a Game-Changer for Your Health**
Have you ever felt like your diet needs a reset? I'm not alone. Many of us are on the lookout for ways to boost our health and feel our best. That's where intermittent fasting comes in. Author and health guru Janet Thomson's Placebo Diet and even more so the Reset that I have delivered for nearly 10
years is very much based on boosting health, both mind and body, and when you have a healthy body you'll be a healthy weight - by default. But how does practicing Intermittent fasting help?
First off, intermittent fasting is not just a diet—it's a lifestyle change. It's about when you eat, and what you eat to be your best and healthiest version - all the time! You can still enjoy your favorite foods in moderation, but the timing is key. This
approach can help you reset your eating habits and give your body a break from constant digestion.
Now, let me tell you why it's so good for you. Intermittent fasting can help you lose weight. When you fast, your body starts using stored fat for energy. This can lead to weight loss, which is a goal for many of us. But that's not all. It can also improve your metabolism. A faster metabolism means your body is more efficient at burning calories, even when you're
not working out. So it really is a win, win once you adopt this way of eating.
But wait, there's more! Intermittent fasting can boost your brain health. Studies have shown that fasting can increase the production of a protein called brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF). This protein supports brain function and can help protect against depression and other mental health issues. So, not only are you helping your body, but you're also giving your brain
a boost.
I know, it sounds amazing, And the best part is, you don't have to do it alone if you don't want to.. Whether you sign up to one of the Resets I run periodically throughout the year, or work with me 121 There are different methods of intermittent fasting, the 16/8 method (where you fast for 16 hours and eat during an 8-hour window) is the suggested protocol on the Colourfast system. With the Reset we reduce the feeding window and increase
the fasting window over the first week down to two 24 hour fasts (1 meal in 24 hours for 2 days ) before increasing it back up to 16:8 again in the second week. This allows the body to cleanse, repair and restore uninterrupted by snacking and overeating. The appetite becomes regulated as blood sugar and hormone levels become balanced. Energy levels are boosted, sleep pattens settle down - what's not to love!
I can't wait to share what will be some inevitably fantastic results
from the current reset in a couple of weeks.!
There's a Reset friendly , winter warming lentil and vegetable stew in this weekd food matters and class news Christmas dates. You are also invited to the annual running club Christmas Walk - see details later in this newsletter
Have a great week, stay warm !

FOOD MATTERS >>>>>
As the chilly winds of winter start to wrap around us, there's nothing quite like a warm, hearty meal to keep us cozy. Today, I want to share with you a recipe that not only warms your soul but also fuels your body with nutritious goodness. So dive into making a delightful Winter Vegetable and Lentil Stew.
You'll
need:
1 cup of green or brown lentils
2 tablespoons of olive oil
1 large onion, chopped
3 cloves of garlic, minced
2 carrots, sliced
2 celery stalks, sliced
1 sweet potato, peeled and cubed
1 can of diced tomatoes (14 oz)
4 cups of vegetable broth
1 teaspoon of dried thyme
1 teaspoon of dried rosemary
Salt and pepper to taste
A handful of fresh spinach
A squeeze of
lemon juice
Now, let’s get cooking! Start by rinsing the lentils under cold water. This helps remove any dust or debris. In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic, letting them sauté until they’re soft and fragrant.
Next, toss in the carrots, celery, and sweet potato. Stir them around, letting them mingle with the onion and garlic for a few minutes. You’ll notice the colours start to brighten, and that’s your cue to add
the lentils.
Pour in the diced tomatoes and vegetable broth. Give it a good stir, and then sprinkle in the thyme and rosemary. These herbs bring a comforting, earthy flavour that’s perfect for winter. Season with salt and pepper to your liking.
Bring the pot to a gentle boil, then reduce the heat to a simmer. Cover and let it cook for about 30-40 minutes, or until the lentils and veggies are tender. You might want to check in occasionally, giving it a stir
and enjoying the delicious aroma.
Once everything is cooked to perfection, stir in the fresh spinach. It wilts beautifully, adding a pop of colour and a boost of nutrients. Just before serving, squeeze in a bit of lemon juice to brighten the flavours.
And there you have it! A warm, nutritious stew that’s perfect for those cold winter evenings. Serve it up in bowls, maybe with a little crusty bread on the side. As you enjoy this meal, know that you’re
nourishing your body with love and care.
I hope this recipe brings warmth to your home and joy to your table - ENJOY
