Hello There, I hope you stayed safe, warm and dry during last weekends Storm Darragh - goodness it was wet and very windy!!!. After classes last Saturday I set off for a couple of days Christmas shopping in Norwich with my daughter Kirrie. It is always so good to spend precious time with her and I am very lucky to always get very
spoilt too. It has become an annual pre - Christmas event we both look forward too right down to choosing and buying the Christmas tree together to adorn her home. Despite the weather we were out running early on Sunday morning which always leaves us feeling energised and a little virtuous too. We have also agreed and planned some runs and walks over Christmas that we will factor in to avoid any New Year food indulgent
hangovers. So with that sorted , this weeks spotlight is to encourage you to factor in and plan some exercise over Christmas too. Getting out in the fresh air even for 20 mins or so will revive and lift you, it will get you out of that armchair and boost your mood. Encourage other members of your family to join you, Its a great opportunity to talk and catch up, get away from 'technology' and reconnect along with associated health benefits. Lindsey Fitness members can also access the
'Home' library at any time for a mini workout too. Apologies for the faulty link to book the New Year Reset , all sorted now. Those that got in touch and booked with me direct are now happily 'primed' to manage Christmas beautifully, as their best version with their New Year treat in place. This weeks recipe is actually one discovered by Kirrie and cooked for me on Sunday,
as we settled in for the evening watching a Christmas movie. Slow Cooker Chicken Pot Soup is divine ,hearty and delicious and simple to cook - do try it and let me know what you think. Have a fabulous, fit, healthy and fun week - and I'll see you online and in classes. Love Lindsey xxx

Staying Active During the Festive Season: Benefits and Planning for SuccessThe festive season is a time of joy, celebration, and..... indulgence. It's a period when social calendars are filled, and the temptation to
indulge in sumptuous meals and treats is at its peak. While it's important to enjoy these moments, maintaining a balance with physical activity and exercise can enhance your festive experience and contribute to overall well-being. Here's why staying active during the festive period is beneficial and how planning in advance can help you achieve this balance.
Benefits of Staying Active During the Festive Season - Boosts Physical Health: Regular physical activity is essential for maintaining a healthy weight, improving cardiovascular health, and strengthening muscles and bones. During the festive period,
when calorie intake might increase, staying active helps manage weight gain and keeps your body in good shape.
- Enhances Mental Well-being: Exercise is known to release endorphins, the body's natural mood lifters. Engaging in physical activity can reduce stress, anxiety, and symptoms of depression, which can sometimes accompany the hustle and bustle of Christmas, Twixmas and New
Year.
- Improves Energy Levels: While it might seem counterintuitive, regular exercise boosts energy levels. It improves circulation and cardiovascular efficiency, helping you feel more energetic and alert during the busy festive season.
- Promotes Better Sleep: Physical activity can help regulate
your sleep patterns, ensuring that you get the restorative rest needed to enjoy the festivities. Good sleep is crucial for maintaining energy and mood.
- Encourages Social Interaction: Many physical activities can be enjoyed with family and friends, providing an opportunity to bond and create lasting memories. Whether it's a family walk, a friendly game of football, or a group fitness class,
exercising together can enhance social connections.
Planning for Success: Tips for Staying Active - Set Realistic Goals: Before the festive season begins, set achievable fitness goals. Whether it's maintaining your current fitness level, aiming for a certain
number of workouts per week, or trying a new activity, having clear goals can keep you motivated.
- Create a Schedule: Look at your Christmas and New Year calendar and identify time slots for exercise. Treat these sessions as appointments that cannot be missed. Whether it's a morning jog, a lunchtime walk, or a Lindsey Fitness online replay, scheduling helps ensure consistency.
- Stay Flexible: While having a plan is important, it's equally crucial to be flexible. If plans change or unexpected events arise, adapt your routine. A shorter run/walk or a quick home exercise session is better than none.
- Involve Family and Friends: Encourage loved ones to join you in physical activities. This not only
makes exercise more enjoyable but also helps keep each other accountable.
- Mindful Eating: While this article focuses on physical activity, it's worth noting that mindful eating (in last weeks newsletter) during the festive season complements your exercise efforts. Enjoy treats in moderation and listen to your body's hunger cues.
- Utilise
Technology: Fitness apps and wearable devices can help track your activity and remind you to stay active. Many apps offer festive challenges that add an element of fun and competition.
In Conclusion The festive season is a time for celebration, but it doesn't have to come at the
expense of your health and fitness. By understanding the benefits of staying active and planning in advance, you can enjoy the best of both worlds: indulging in holiday treats and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Remember, the key is balance and consistency. With a little planning and a positive mindset, you can enter the new year feeling fit, healthy, and ready to tackle any resolutions you set!

FOOD MATTERS >>> I spent last weekend in Norwich with my lovely daughter (being spoilt rotten I might add), Kirrie cooked me a wonderful chicken pot soup pie which simply I had to share with you. Please click below for this yummy recipe from Baked By Rachel
Kirrie actually topped the soup bowl with a puff pastry lid cooked separately and place on top just before serving. She also cooked a large batch to freeze some portions too. Kirrie suggested adding a tin of butter beans in addition or as a vegetarin alternative - ENJOY!!
