Hello There! More rain anyone........I am really trying to find a positive regarding the weather - the gardens are loving it however! Fingers crossed for better more consistent , sunnier, Summer days as we head now towards the Wimbledon finals this weekend, school holidays and the
2024 Olympics in Paris!. The Summer Reset is well underway as participants approach two days of long fasting, having tapered down this last week. Without a shadow of doubt, we are all relaxed, totally focused and ready most confidently for the 24 hour fasts, when our bodies can start it's 'deep clean' process uninterrupted by food. Our nutrition this week in preparation has been of the highest quality. providing our bodies with everything it
needs for this process.- we are all so excited for this. The spotlight this week is on giving blood which many of my members do, as has my daughter ever since she was old enough to do so at age 17. Is this something you do already or maybe would like to do? Read about donating blood and how you can step up to donate, maybe encourage friends and family to do the same . I am thrilled to have taken on another 121 mentoring client who reached out after reading about Mandy in last weeks newsletter. There are just 2 further places left on the launch offer. I would like to add that Mandy was thrilled to let me know she had now lost over a stone .... and joined a Zumba class which is just brilliant .Clearly now living her best and healthiest life. Delicious Summer recipe to tray which I have passed onto my Reset group, who will just omit the gnocchi and add more veg for the purpose of their Reset. Have a positive and active week, and I'll see you in classes. Love Lindsey xxx

Spotlight on Giving Blood
Putting it simply ... Giving Blood Saves Lives! ....and many people would not be alive today were it not for the generosity of blood donors. But it’s always in high demand. It's a lifesaving service that is required 365 days a year, and there are dedicated staff working day and night to process, test and distribute donated blood. Every year around 143,000 new donors are needed to ensure there is a continuous supply of the right mix of blood groups to meet patient needs today, right now and in the future. Here are ten things you might not know about donating blood in the UK: - **Frequency of Donation**: Men can donate blood every 12 weeks
(approximately three months), while women can donate every 16 weeks (approximately four months). This is due to differences in iron levels and overall blood volume between genders.
- **Iron Levels**: Before donating, your iron levels are checked with a simple finger-prick test. If your iron levels are too low, you won’t be able to donate at that time. This is to ensure the donor's health and safety.
- **Age Range**: You can start donating blood from the age of 17 and continue up until your 66th birthday. If you are a regular donor, you can continue donating up until the age of 70, and potentially beyond with special permission from a doctor.
- **Eligibility Criteria**: There are specific criteria that must be met to donate blood, including weight (you must weigh at least 50 kg), health status,
and lifestyle factors. Certain medical conditions, medications, or recent travel to specific countries can temporarily or permanently disqualify you from donating.
- **Blood Types in Demand**: All blood types are needed, but O negative blood is particularly important as it is the universal donor type, which can be given to anyone in emergencies. AB plasma is also highly sought after due to its universal compatibility for plasma
transfusions.
- **Donation Process Duration**: The actual blood donation takes about 5-10 minutes, but the entire process, including registration, health screening, and post-donation refreshments, takes about an hour.
- **Platelet Donation**: In addition to whole blood, you can donate just platelets. This process is called apheresis and takes about 90 minutes. Platelets are
crucial for patients with cancer, severe blood disorders, or those undergoing major surgery.
- **Free Health Check**: Each time you donate, you get a mini health check. Your blood pressure, pulse, and haemoglobin levels are checked, and your blood is screened for certain infectious diseases.
- **Blood Storage**: Donated blood is separated into components (red cells, plasma, and
platelets) and can be stored for different lengths of time. Red cells can be stored for up to 35 days, platelets for up to 7 days, and plasma can be frozen for up to a year.
- **Impact of Donation**: One donation can save or improve up to three lives. Blood is essential for surgeries, cancer treatment, chronic illnesses, and traumatic injuries. The NHS Blood and Transplant service often shares stories of recipients to highlight the
real-life impact of donations.
Donating blood is a simple yet powerful way to contribute to the community and save lives. If you're eligible and able, consider making regular donations a part of your routine.
Back in May I was contacted by a lovely lady called Mandy who had previously attended my classes some 17 years ago. Mandy lost several stones with me and it changed her life significantly both physically and mentally. Fast forward to May 2024 and Mandy reached out to me for some help .We had a great 'no obligation'
ZOOM discovery call just to chat about where Mandy was at and how I might help her again. Following some significant personal losses Mandy had regained some weight but been unable to shift it whatever she tried and felt rather lost as to what to do about it. Mandy declared she had only ever been successful through me and could we find some way for me to help her again. So we have been working on a pilot 121 basis. This involved a weekly ZOOM call and Mandy sending me an accountability post every single day. I have been working with Mandy for 6 weeks introducing nutritional changes and targets along with setting exercise goals in a step by step process tailored to what she herself feels achievable. Creating new healthier habits and embedding them, moving forward. with confidence on her terms. This lady is flying ..... having lost over a stone now as of this week, at least a dress size, and her step count going from less that 2,000 steps per day to well over 5,000!
With over 30 years of experience in weight loss and nutrition I am now available to take on some more 121 clients starting with a 6 week mentoring package, tailored to you. To work with you personally to... - Change your mindset around food and bad
eating habit

- To advise, direct and inspire you nutritionally
- To set you safe and achievable exercise goals on your terms

Garlic & Rosemary Chicken with Summer Ratatouille INGREDIENTS: - 4 garlic cloves
- 4 small chicken fillets
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 3 rosemary sprigs, leaves finely chopped
- 1 lemon, zest only
- 25g/1oz butter
- 500g/1lb 2oz cherry tomatoes, halved
- 1 large courgette,
chopped
- 1 red pepper thinly sliced
- 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
- 500g/1lb 2oz fresh gnocchi
- handful fresh basil leaves, plus extra to serve
- grated pecorino to serve
INSTRUCTIONS: - Chop the garlic on a chopping board. Sprinkle with sea salt and use the side of the knife to crush the garlic until a rough paste forms. Add the rosemary and lemon zest and finely chop everything together.
- Put the chicken fillets into a large bowl along with a
tablespoon of the olive oil and the garlic and rosemary paste. Stir to fully coat the chicken. (If you have time you can leave the chicken to marinate in the fridge for up to 24 hours.)
- Heat a large non-stick frying pan with a tight-fitting lid over a high heat. Add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil. Once hot, fry the chicken breasts for 2 minutes on each side until golden-brown. Transfer to a plate and set aside.
- Add the butter, cherry tomatoes, courgette, pepper and balsamic vinegar to the pan. Cook, stirring often, until the tomatoes start to soften.
- Reduce the heat and return the chicken to the pan, nestling it into the vegetables. Cover with a lid and cook for 10 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the tomatoes have cooked down slightly.
- Remove the lid and cook for a
further 5 minutes. Use a fork to burst some of the tomatoes to release some of their juices for the sauce.
- While the chicken cooks, bring a large saucepan of salted water to the boil and add the gnocchi. Cook for 1–2 minutes until they float to the surface, then remove with a slotted spoon and add straight to the chicken pan, along with the basil leaves.
- Serve the chicken and gnocchi in wide bowls garnished
with extra basil leaves, pecorino and a seasoning of salt and pepper - ENJOY!
