Did you manage to glimpse the Northern Lights, I wonder? Sadly I didn't but have enjoyed seeing all the pictures taken by friends and members. Some welcome glorious sunny weather this past week, which is such a mood lifter. Fresh air , sunshine .....and getting the washing dried outside all lend to the feel good factor - happy days
indeed.
I'm talking this week about UPF's - Ultra Processed Foods, and how detrimental they can be to our health. A UPF is food that you wouldn’t be able to recreate in your own kitchen. If you don’t recognise some of the ingredients on the label, it’s likely to be an ultra-processed food. It is manufactured to be convenient and cheap, has a long shelf life and is generally ready to eat or ready to heat. These foods are
designed to be hyper-palatable, so you’re likely to want to eat more of them.
Typically, industrially produced UPFs contain additives such as artificial flavours, emulsifiers, colouring and sweeteners (which are often cheaper and less likely to go off than natural ingredients), as well as preservatives to increase their shelf life. These foods may also contain substances from the packaging they are in contact with and should be
avoided at all costs.
Fresh is always best and cooking from scratch needn't be a chore. As my Placebo Diet Colour Fast Resetters know 'smug' shopping is the order of the day to always be on the right track with the food we eat. The next Reset is July and will be booking soon - so watch this space!
One week to go until the Welwyn Hatfield Race for Life - I would love
to see you there as always. Come and find me near the stage on race day if you have entered, may be bring a picnic and encourage family and friends to take part or cheer you on.
Have a good week
Love Lindsey xxx
