I hope all is well with you , especially as the momentum gains as we start December.
Last Saturday 15 Lindsey Fitness members and their families along with myself took part in the excellent CPR and Defibrillation practical workshop at the Ridgeway Academy. The session which is we hold every 3 years, was
hosted by Dave and Arline Hursey from DiPPs (Defibrillators In Public Places).
The session was highly informative and gave participants the opportunity to practice both life saving Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and how to use a PAD (Public Access Defibrillator).
There were lots of good questions asked and everyone took part enthusiastically in the practical techniques giving them the confidence to act should they need to in
an emergency situation.
Early CPR and Defibrillation greatly increases the chances of survival from Cardiac arrest. Access to defibrillators in public places will help fight the odds of survival for the 60,000 people who will have a cardiac arrest in a public place each year. Having the knowledge of how to administer CPR and use a defibrillator can only enhance that.
The session was also an opportunity for me to get our own PAD checked. I carry one at all
classes and running club sessions and am pleased to say it is all in order for the next 2 years should it be needed.
A donation of £220 was made to DiPPs by Saturdays participants to help them continue to get more PAD's into the community.
