We can be optimistic for some better weather this weekend dare I say. The rain as depressing as it can be is also very good for vegetation that's for sure. On my walks with Frank the blackberries are clearly thriving as they ripen. Hydrangeas are revelling in all the moisture and are looking quite glorious. Some Lindsey Fitness members have
been offloading their allotment excesses and sharing their harvests at classes. Do try the deliciously simple runner bean recipe later in this newsletter. Some Lindsey Fitness Running Club members (including myself) are now ramping up our training runs in readiness for the Autumn Half Marathons in Newcastle (the iconic Great North |Run), Windsor and the Royal Parks in London.. Those committed to events are always so generously supported by fellow
runners and members car supporting our longer runs now - for which we are always hugely appreciative. Last Saturday at Monks Walk School saw a big Walkfit Class achieve over 6.000 steps in the session! Energy was high despite the deluge of rain outside and we all felt so good, many now seeing and feeling the results of this Cardio and Strength workout with weight loss and improved muscle tone. If you have not yet tried a Walkfit Class - Come and join the fun and try it for FREE! I have this week been continuing to go through the resources for the forthcoming Come Alive Now mentored programme coming in November. Janet and I can't wait to launch this new online initiative . The meditations in particular are just stunning and so powerful. Do you
meditate I wonder? I always now include a short meditative session at the end of each Lindsey Fitness Pilates online session every Wednesday. It really rounds the session, and is perfect in its grounding as a mid week treat. Lets take a look at what Meditation actually is and its benefits to you..... Regular meditation is the practice of training the mind to focus and redirect thoughts. It involves sitting quietly and focusing on a specific object, thought, or activity, such as breathing or repeating a mantra. The goal of meditation is to achieve a mentally clear and
emotionally calm state, which promotes relaxation, self-awareness, and inner peace. Benefits of regular meditation include: - Stress reduction: Meditation helps to calm the mind and relax the body, reducing the levels of stress hormones like cortisol. It can also enhance the ability to cope with stressful situations.
- Improved mental clarity and focus: Regular meditation enhances concentration, memory, and
cognitive abilities. It helps to quiet the mind and improve mental clarity, making it easier to stay focused on tasks and improve productivity.
- Emotional well-being: Meditation promotes emotional stability by reducing anxiety, depression, and negative emotions. It helps individuals develop a better understanding of their thoughts and emotions, leading to improved emotional regulation and overall well-being.
- Better physical health: Meditation has
been linked to various physical health benefits, such as lowering blood pressure, boosting the immune system, and reducing chronic pain. It also improves sleep quality and helps individuals develop healthier habits.
- Increased self-awareness: Regular meditation helps individuals develop a deeper understanding of themselves and their inner thoughts and emotions. This self-awareness can lead to personal growth, improved self-esteem, and better
decision-making.
- Enhanced compassion and empathy: Meditation cultivates a sense of compassion and empathy towards oneself and others. It promotes kindness, patience, and understanding, leading to improved relationships and a greater sense of interconnectedness.
- Spiritual growth: For those seeking spiritual growth or a deeper connection with themselves or a higher power, meditation can provide a pathway for self-discovery, self-reflection, and a
sense of spiritual fulfillment.
Overall, regular meditation offers numerous benefits for the mind, body, and spirit, promoting a sense of overall well-being and enhancing one's quality of life. Whatever your reason, whatever your need .... Mind, Body & Soul You know you need to lose weight but......you have to

Runner beans are in abundance at the moment it seems. Some of my members have been bring their excess harvest to kindly share at classes. Runner beans are rich in Vitamin C and the antioxidant beta-carotene. This vegetable helps fight inflammation and is a good source of folate and potassium, which helps regulate blood pressure. Here is a simple and delicious runner bean recipe to try... Ingredients: - 1 pound of runner beans
- 1 tablespoon of olive oil
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional toppings: grated Parmesan cheese, sliced almonds, or lemon zest
Instructions: - Start
by preparing the runner beans. Wash them thoroughly and remove the ends. Cut them into bite-sized pieces.
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add the runner beans to the skillet and season with salt and pepper. Stir well to coat the beans with the garlic and oil.
- Cover the skillet and cook the beans for about 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are tender but still
crisp.
- Taste and adjust the seasoning if needed.
- Once the beans are cooked, you can serve them as is, or you can add any optional toppings like grated Parmesan cheese, sliced almonds, or lemon zest for extra flavor.
- Enjoy your delicious runner beans as a side dish or as part of a main course. They go well with grilled meats, roasted chicken, or as a topping for salads..ENJOY!
