Hi
It's been quite a week hasn't it? The news
that Queen Elizabeth had passed away last Tuesday hit like a hammer blow. It has left the whole Nation grieving at the loss of this remarkable woman - the longest serving Monarch in History. It was something that we of course knew would happen one day , but now it has doesn't make it any less sad. I for one have been avidly watching many of the programmes about her life, along with all the LIVE coverage of this historical transition of change as it happens. One of the
programmes I saw featured our new King Charles meeting with , and talking to the public who had gathered at Buckingham Palace to offer condolences. I had to smile when some one said to him that "he had big shoes to fill , he most definitely has, and I am most certain he will.
Next Monday, September 19th has now been declared a Bank Holiday to accommodate
the Queen's funeral. There will be no Monday classes online or Presdales Class in the evening as the school will be closed. There is no class at Monks Walk on Tuesday Evening either due to a School event - there are replays for you to use instead as always.
The Queen was remarkable as I mentioned, and managed a job she wasn't
born to do but was bestowed through events that transpired. At the age of just 25, newly married, with a young family to raise and a Kingdom to rule, she had to strike a balance in order to cope with everything she faced. She ruled for over 70 years and passed away at the fantastic age of 96. It struck me that she was still working up until a few days before she passed, and that her longevity must have been due in part to her fitness over all those years. It is well known her love of
animals, riding horses until a great age and walking miles with her beloved dogs wherever she was in the country - what a marvellous example she set for a long and healthy life physically and mentally.
We owe it to ourselves to be as fit as we can for as long as we can, in order
