Hi
My newsletter this week is about exercise and some of the many associated benefits of just 'moving or doing' whatever your age or ability.
Please note some new changes to classes in March later in this newsletter.
As a Fitness Instructor for nearly 30 years I have taught all age groups from Primary School to Octogenarians - and still do. Doing what you can when you can is as important as it ever was to be the best and healthiest version of you.
Finding an exercise class or activity that you enjoy is important so that you look forward to doing it. Don't be afraid to trying something new or even just getting out into the fresh air for a walk which costs nothing but a little time.
Just 30 minutes of exercise 5 times a week can have huge health benefits for general health and wellbeing both physically and mentally.
Health Benefits - Its medically proven that people who do regular physical activity have lower risk of :
- Coronary heart disease and stroke
- Type 2 Diabetes
- Bowel Cancer
- Breast Cancer in Women
- Early Death
- Osteoporosis
- Hip Fracture
- Falls (among older adults)
- Depression
- Dementia
Weight Loss - Just half an hour of exercise a day to help prevent excess weight gain or maintain weight loss. HiiT workouts are great to burn more calories in a short space of time and to keep fat burning for longer post workout
Reduce Stress - exercise increases the amount or norepinephrine in your body -this is a chemical that can help moderate out brains response to stress. So a quick workout can reduce stress and release mental tension.
Boost Mood - Physical activity stimulates other chemicals called endorphins in the brain to leave you feeling happier and more relaxed
Energy Burst - when you feel your energy is low, half an hour of exercise can actually give you the boost you need. Delivering oxygen and nutrients to your muscle tissue while helping your cardiovascular system to work more efficiently.
Improve Memory - boost your powers or recollection. Exercise increases the production of cells in the hippocampus of the brain responsible for memory and learning.
Increase Productivity - Avoid that afternoon slump by taking time away from the desk in the fresh air at lunchtime to refresh and recharge.
Remember any exercise or activity is better than none at all and will only benefit you . Could you do more?
